Or, read on, and find out how Team Shad got its start:

In January of 2004, a fun-loving, four-year-old, little boy, Shad Murphy, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. This disease causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. These thick secretions also obstruct the pancreas, preventing digestive enzymes from reaching the intestines to help break down and absorb food. As you can well imagine, Rodger and Gwen Murphy, Shad’s parents, and Levi, Shad’s older brother, suffered through a time of turmoil. But by the spring of 2004, the Murphy family had focused their energies and organized a huge turnout of walkers who all helped to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Central Pennsylvania in the Great Strides Walk in York County, Team Shad was born.

Team Shad is an organization of friends of the Murphy's dedicated to helping in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. We work in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

In the summer of 2005, Team Shad expanded its energies and held the first annual Score Fore a Cure Golf Tournament. In its inaugural year, the Score Fore a Cure Golf Tournament had 156 golfers participating at the Briarwood Golf Course in York, Pennsylvania, and the tournament raised nearly $14,000 which went directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Each year we continue to work on expanding our efforts in the Great Strides Walk and in the Score Fore a Cure Tournament.
